From what we hear, the electric version would weigh an additional 500 pounds over the gasoline version. This could mean that the vehicles will have a total weight of close to 4,100 pounds. Heavy, indeed! However, motoring experts believe that the added pounds may not be a bother for the users as the car will have a four-wheel drive system.
When Merc makes an electric car, we tend to expect it to give us more than what others have even dreamt of. It has been clarified that the Electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will use four motors to help generate 525 horsepower. Such kind of power would mean that the car would be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 in just four seconds! The electric SLS will be driven by three batteries that would return power equal to 525bhp and 649lb ft of torque.
Though the road testing has begun, we dont expect the car to hit the tarmac so soon. It is being said that a 2013 launch date is what we should be looking yet. Hope it is worth the wait.
