You can find over a hundred more cars being offered either now or in the future directly from manufacturers worldwide in our members section.

However, you can buy any of the cars in our showroom much more easily!

How Far Do Elecric Cars Go per Charge?

Estimated ranges per charge are shown in the specs for each cars. It's important to realize that many factors can change the distance which your car will go. These include temperatures, terrain, the condition of your batteries, tire pressure, and how fast you drive, etc. Advancements are being made in battery technology every year now and we are pleased to say that it is likely the car you buy today will go twice as far, or even 10 times as far someday when you replace your batteries.

How Do You Recharge Your Electric Car?

Most electric cars now have an on-board charging system. You simply plug an extention cord into your AC outlet in your garage and into the power plug of the car. This takes just a couple seconds to do! Some people feel this is "an inconvenience"... But, you have to consider the 10 minutes you spend at a gas station every couple weeks, out on the rain pumping your gas etc. (Some cars required 220 volt systems and are noted)

How Fast Do Electric Cars Go?

One of the biggest misconceptions about electric cars is that they go "slow like a golf cart". In fact, most electric cars are raring to blast down the road like a rocket. Electric devices are placed in most electric car controllers to make these cars not "burn rubber", accelerate smoothly and to not exceed speed restrictions imposed by state and federal governments.

How Long Do Batteries Last?

Most power packs for electric cars will last you many low-maintenance years. Many factors can help your batteries last longer. These include keeping your car in cooler temperatures, checking the fluid levels of lead acid batteries, not letting NiCad or Li-Ion based batteries reach full discharge, etc. Consult your owners manual and updates posted on manufacturer websites concerning proper maintenance. With advancements in battery technology it is likely the batteries you purchase in the future will double, triple and increase the range of your car dramtically!

How Safe are Electric Cars to Drive?

Many electric cars are made with lower weight frames, fiberglass bodies and plastics. All these allow the car to travel longer distances but make it necessary to drive slower. Electric cars should not be driven at their "maximum speeds" or speeds that are deemed unsafe. Also, electric cars are not recommended on streets that are dominated by higher weight gas cars, trucks, SUV's etc. As more people buy these low weight vehicles more cities will adopt "Green Street Initiatives" which restrict larger vehicles and inprove driving conditions for EV drivers. See our "Green streets" initiatives in our members section for more information about allocating "EV friendly" driving zones and changing your local speed regulations.

How Do You Know if an Electric Car is Legal to Drive in Your Area?

Laws regarding owning electric cars are chainging all the time. We cannot keep up with the changes, so we request all customers consult their local DMV's prior to purchasing an electric car. Most countries, cities and states are adopting "green street laws" (ElectricCars.com term) because of public requests. Gas prices are continuing to soar and people want these electrics to be allowed in their towns...

Some of our customers have no problems registering their cars. But, some DMV's are behind the times and you might need to talk to a supervisor if the clerk has no knowedge of EV laws. If your local DMV does not know the restrictions for low speed vehicles consult your local city officials.

Why Aren't these Electric Cars Being Sold at My Local Car Dealers?

Car dealers have it pretty easy. They're all basically selling cars that are pretty much identical to any other car sold for the past 50 years. They put in an order, the cars show up on a truck, they put them on their lot and the car sells... They make a couple thousand bucks with little risk... minimum effort. Selling EV's is not easy and the profit margins are much lower than gas cars. The technology is new, people are skepticle, you have to deal with foreign producers, shipping cars half way around the world, delays waiting for the cars to clear customs, etc... Dealers are waiting until "it's easy and profitable to sell EV's "...

Why Aren't the Major Auto Manufacturers Building and Selling Electric Cars?

Electric cars are brand new, development costs are high and there's not a lot of profit involved in making these cars yet. Major auto companies are not willing to risk investing their resources into this new market. In the past, the bigger car companies would wait until the smaller companies "make new technologies work". Then they would buy out the smaller companies, increase the price and profits then take all the credit. Right now, ironically some major auto companies have actually spent millions of dollars suing regulators and manufacturers to prevent electric cars from being sold. (GM vs CARB 2002). To date we've had no help from any multi-billion dollar auto companies...

Would You Give Me an Electric Car So I Can Promote Your Company?

Sure, pay for the car and it's yours! Really, we have about a billion customers who want to go electric. The challenge has been helping the manufacturers develop electric cars that go far enough, fast enough, safe enough and are affordable. This has taken us over a decade and the manufcaturers have billions of dollars invested... not much room to give cars away after this effort!

Why Are Some Electric Cars So Expensive?

A. Large auto manufacturers have rejected the notion of selling electric cars. Some people speculate it's because the same people who own large corporations own the gas companies too... Who knows? But people want electric cars so some brave smaller companies are trying to build them and we're supporting their efforts. Unlike the big car makers, smaller companies can't build 1,000 cars a day so the prices are higher per unit. (If GM only built 10 Corvettes a day they would be $350,000 each so EV's are actually priced low considering.)

B.When you factor in the $30,000 to $50,000 you will save not buying gas over the next 10 years electric cars are a good investment...

C.We live in a world where people buy Hummers for $85,000 then pay $50,000 for the gas! And, people buy Mercedes, Ferarris and Rolls Royces for $150,000 up to $500,000... They pay for "status". The people who are buying electric cars are saving money, supporting clean technologies, want a healthy environment and a safer future.

So Electric Cars really aren't out of line in pricing. And, keep in mind most of these EV manufacturers spent millions of dollars to get these cars made... Most have not seen a dime in profit while the "major car cmpanies" have made billions!

Since the 1880's people have been waiting for Electric Cars to be cheaper than gas... all the while watching gas prices climb to a point now that people are filing for bankruptcy, losing their homes, paying 3 times as much for groceries, there's recessions, unemployment, etc... WE CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER... Oil is an addiction, and the world has it BAD! Help us get these cars on the roads... If we keep going the world will be OIL FREE in 20 years!!!

Who's Buying these Electric Cars?

Oil is an addiction, and the world has it BAD! Help us get these cars on the roads... If we keep going the world will be OIL FREE in 20 years, if we don't...!!!

Since the 1880's people have been waiting for Electric Cars to be cheaper than gas... The people who are buying electric cars see what's coming in the next few years and are doing something now to support the industry that can save life on earth.

What are the Resale Values of Electric Cars?

Used electric cars are very rare. Currently, we don't have much information on the pricing of used EV's. But, it's a safe bet you will have no problem selling your EV down the road because the demand for EV's has gone up and up over the past 10 years, There's even a possibility some used EV's will sell for more than you pay for them today. Some of these cars are priced well below makret values and new batteries and superior components may be available in the future to upgrade used EV's making them even more valuable to future owners.

Why Doesn't Our Government Help Electric Cars?

There's no simple answer for this. Let's start with the basic overview of the situation. WE'RE ALL SCREWED!

The government in the 1980's until Today believed a gallon of gas would always cost 55 cents! They supported oil companies, nuclear technology and oil buring electric plants. They subsidised oil companies, offered incentives for auto makers to build more gas cars, shipping companies built mile long oil tankers (That cause ecological disasters) and they even gave tax incentives for businesses to buy gas guzzling cars like HUMMERS! Some admistrations actually SUED ELECTRIC CAR MAKERS to halt the progress of clean vehicle technologies (GM/Chevron vs TOYOTA RAV 4 EV 2003)

Governments "experts" did not foresee the mess that has evolved in the middle east. They did not realize there would come a day when 40 million gas cars would be built every year and oil prices would exceed all predictions.

Now, our next generations will pay for their mistakes. This is why our economy is faced with recessions caused by high gas prices. This is why you are spending thousands of dollars for gas, and why your groceries haven gotten so expensive!

The oil industry knows most people will complain about gas prices and do NOTHING. That's why they can randomly choose a price for gas every week and raise the price we pay at the pump... It may be too late for the governments of the world to help. WE HAVE TO END OIL OIL ADDICTION OURSELVES...

The cars we are selling are just another step toward being an oil free society. Are they perfect? No, but are we going to wait another 10, 20 or 50 years for the auto corporations to solve OUR ADDICTION??? Read more about our quest for freedom from oil in our new members topics section

What Happens if Your Electric Car Breaks Down?

Electric car drive trains and components are very simple. Unlike gasoline burning cars that have hundreds (even thousands) of complex moving parts, belts, hoses, oil (yuck), coolant fluids, fuel lines, pistons, plugs, injectors, starter motors... etc. All electrc cars have basically the same 3 things. Batteries, a motor and a controller... These normally will give you many years of maintenance free driving.. Most golf cart repair services in your area will be able to change or replace the batteries, controller or your motor with a screwdriver and a couple wrenches. Replacement parts are available from the manufacturers directly. (Consult your operation manual) We will also be listing premium repair services on our website as they become more available.

What Happens if Your Electric Car Wears Out?

All mechanical devises wear out eventually. Your car will last longer if properly maintained and driven within the guidelines suggested by the manufacturer. When your batteries wear out you generally will notice your car will just not be as "zippy" as normal. Electric motors don't normally wear out but if it may lose some strength or maybe a bearing will wear eventually... Controllers usually never fail if cared for properly... Take care of your electric car and it should last a long long time.

Do Electric Cars Have Warrantees?

Most manufacturers offer limited warrantees. However, the customer is responsible for shipping the car to the manufacturer for service.

Is it Worth the Effort to Buy an Electric Car?

Yes! Many of our members and customers have become celebrities in their towns. Some are asked to appear at special events, in parades and on news programs. People will come up to you and ask where you got your electric car, how you like it and let's face it... You'll be one of a very few people who is actually doing something to help the world... not just talking. Being one of the first owners of these cars usually makes for some great bragging rights!
