Toyota's new electric concept car, the e•com.* Ideal foruniversities, resorts, planned communities, corporate campuses and the like, e•com is just the right amount of car for getting there. And doing sowith some rather innovative technologies. It uses 24 sealed nickel-metalhydride batteries (NiMH) linked together to produce 288 volts. Thispower provides a range of about 60 miles on a single charge with a topspeed of 62 mph. The e•com not only conserves energy, it restores itwith an advanced regenerative braking system that captures much of theenergy lost while braking and returns it to the batteries to extend its rangeeven farther.
