Toyota
Previews it's Prototype E-Com - "A Car for Everyone
"
Toyota's new electric concept car, the
ecom.* Ideal foruniversities, resorts,
planned communities, corporate campuses and the
like, ecom is just the right amount of car
for getting there. And doing sowith some rather
innovative technologies. It uses 24 sealed
nickel-metalhydride batteries (NiMH) linked
together to produce 288 volts. Thispower provides a
range of about 60 miles on a single charge with a
topspeed of 62 mph. The ecom not only
conserves energy, it restores itwith an advanced
regenerative braking system that captures much of
theenergy lost while braking and returns it to the
batteries to extend its rangeeven farther.
The TH!NK is 2 passenger electric city car which
was first shown in Brussels in Oct. 1998. It is
made for commuting in and around the city while
being environmentally friendly, reliable, and
economical.
